Iran Threatens to Leave NPT if E3 Triggers Dispute Mechanism

After a year-long scaling back of nuclear commitments in response to the European failure to implement its part of the commitments, Iran warns it will leave the Non-Proliferation treaty as a final step back from the international accord.

In 2015, after years of strenuous negotiations, Iran and the P5+1 cemented the widely appreciated nuclear deal dubbed JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action ). Under the nuclear deal, Iran agreed to cut down some of its nuclear activities and the US, EU and other World powers agreed to lift their nuclear-related sanctions.

While Iran fully implemented all of its commitments, the US and other parties failed to abide by their part of the deal. When Donald Trump took office in 2018, he pulled out of the accord altogether under Saudi and Israeli lobbying.
